Haiti
01/25/2010 Haiti’s children are Africa’s children…That’s why Save Africa’s Children began supporting orphan care programs in Haiti in 2002. The crisis in Haiti has elevated the plight of orphan and homeless children following the 7.0 earthquake. Every Haitian child deserves an opportunity for a promising future. Long after the relief and recovery work is done, Haiti will still face tremendous challenges to redevelop and rebuild its society.
Our Founder and Chairman, Bishop Charles E. Blake, is calling for aid and investment to build the institutional capacity of Haiti, so that Haitians can play a decisive role in rebuilding their country.
Save Africa’s Children is working to bring to Haiti almost ten years of capacity-building experience with community-based organizations and ministries to create standards of care for orphan and vulnerable children. In addition to meeting the need for clean water, nutrition, healthcare and education, we endeavor to also address the trauma and stress that now afflicts so many children. Our charge is to provide Haitian children with a sense of wholeness, identity and security in an atmosphere of love and peace. Together we will make it happen.
Peace & Blessings,
