Los Angeles, CA – Save Africa’s Children, founded by Bishop Charles E. Blake, has made a World AIDS Day pledge to reach 1 million orphan and vulnerable children impacted by HIV/AIDS in Sub-Saharan and the Caribbean by the end of 2012. To date, Save Africa’s Children has reached 250,000 children through funding and working with 420 African partner organizations in 23 African Nations. On Friday, December 11, 2009, Dr. La-Doris McClaney, a philanthropist, businesswoman and Vice-chair of the Board for Save Africa’s Children, will host a Christmas Extravaganza – a black-tie affair, in the Crystal Room of West Angeles Church of God in Christ, 3045 Crenshaw Boulevard, Los Angeles, California.

In past years, the event was held at Dr. McClaney’s Holmby Hills estate. This year The Christmas Extravaganza will take place at West Angeles Church of God In Christ on Crenshaw Boulevard, to symbolize a connection with the faith communities that supports the cause.

“We are grateful to Dr. La Doris McClaney for planning this much anticipated Christmas Extravaganza. It supports our mission to reach a significant portion of the estimated 20 million AIDS orphans in Sub-Saharan Africa,” says Paul Turner, President of Save Africa’s Children. The Chairman and CEO of Save Africa’s Children is Bishop Charles E. Blake who serves as Pastor of West Angeles Church and Presiding Bishop of the Church of God in Christ International. “Dr. La Doris McClaney embraces the vision of Save Africa’s Children with passion and commitment, and she’s a terrific Vice Chair of the board”, says Bishop Blake.

The mission of Save Africa’s Children is to provide care and support to orphan and vulnerable children impacted by HIV/AIDS, armed conflict and poverty in Sub-Saharan Africa and the Caribbean. Save Africa’s Children aims to meet the need of the most vulnerable; endeavoring to build a dynamic, diverse movement to restore hope and future for Africa’s children.
